Low-temperature effect on fatigue fracture of the MA12 magnesium alloy

  • 1. AN Ukrainskoj SSR, Kharkov. Fiziko-Tekhnicheskij Inst. Nizkikh Temperatur

Description

The fatigue curves for the MA12 magnesium alloy in the annealled and thermostrengthened states tested in vacuum at 20 deg C and -120 deg C are plotted. The data on the macro- and microfractography according to the structural state and tension and temperature as well are presented. The comparative estimation of cyclic fracture toughness at room and low temperatures has been carried out. The causes of increasing durability at low temperatures and ambiguous influence of temperature on the alloy fatigue strength in different structural states have been discussed
