Absorption of radioiodine in silver nitrate molecular sieve

Description

Obtainment method and control techniques of materials for the retention of radioiodine in gaseous effluents of nuclear installations. The experimental section is referred to the following processes: preparation of absorbents using, as basis, a molecular sieve and zeolite; impregnation with AgNO3; efficiency determination; efficiency study as a function of the specific charge and bed length; optimization of Ag-consumption; resistance to the gas flux, bed temperature, specific surface, and nitrogen oxides effects. With the described impregnation method, materials, whose properties made them suitable for use in filters for the radioiodine retention and comparable to the imported manufactured materials, may be obtained. Metodo de obtencion y tecnicas de control de materiales para retencion de radioiodo en efluentes gaseosos de instalaciones nucleares. La parte experimental se refiere a los siguientes procesos: preparacion de absorbentes usando tamiz molecular como base y zeolita; impregnacion con AgNO3; determinacion de eficiencia; estudio de la eficiencia en funcion de la carga especifica y longitud del lecho; optimizacion del consumo de Ag; resistecia al flujo de gas, temperatura de los lechos, superficie especifica y efectos de oxidos de nitrogeno. Con el metodo de impregnacion descripto, se pueden obtener materiales cuyas propiedades los hacen utilizables en filtros para retencion de radioiodo, siendo comparables al material comercial importado.
