Hyperthermia: An adjuvant to irradiation
Description
Abundant experimental and early clinical experience indicate that local hyperthermia has a potential of being a useful adjuvant to radiotherapy on the treatment of solid tumours (5,6,23,28,39). The biological rationale for this combined therapy has been extensively studied in experimental models and has created a basis for clinical application of the two modalities as discussed in this chapter.
