Optical analogue of the Aharonov-Bohm effect

Description

We study an optical analogue of the Aharonov-Bohm effect in a magneto-active medium containing a wire with current. It is shown that the phase shift between the light beams propagating around the wire will be proportional to the current strength. This leads to the fact that the cross section of light scattering by the vortex of the gyration vector field turns out to be a periodic function of the current strength

Abstract (Russian)

В работе рассмотрен оптический аналог эффекта Ааронова-Бома в магнитоактивной среде, содержащей проводник с током. Показано, что сдвиг фаз между охватывающими нить с током световыми волнами будет пропорционален силе тока. Это приводит к тому, что сечение рассеяния света на вихре поля вектора гирации оказывается периодической функцией тока
