Twenty years of planning and construction at Leibstadt
Description
The history of the Leibstadt 942 MWe BWR being built for a group of Swiss and German utilities is presented. In 1964 a consortium formed by Electrowatt and allied companies, together with the Rheinisch-Westfaelische Elektrizitaetswerk AG commenced preliminary activities. In 1973 site approval was confirmed and excavation began in 1974. The plant is due to commence regular operation in 1984. (U.K.)
