Contact ion exchange interactions in systems with participation of zeolites

Description
Ion exchange between two solid phases, i.e. a zeolite in H-form and a cationite in Cs-form was observed on contact of their granules in deionized water. The concentration equilibrium constant of contact ion exchange remains a fixed value of 0.038 for the initial zeolite/cationite ratios of 1:1.2 to 1:10.7. The phenomenon observed is of interest as a primary model for the description of diverse real processes with participation of zeolites and in particular for undestanding the mechanisms of soil decontamination
