The paper concerns the variability of the retention rate of the 65Zn radionuclide absorbed by carp (Cyprinus Carpio L) from contaminated feed. Two experiments were carried out using the soft tissue of previously contaminated lymnaea as feed. The global retention rate was measured as a function of time. An analysis of the results from several experiments indicated that the rate of retention of radio zinc by the carp is inversely proportional to the quantity of radionuclide absorbed in the food, due to the slow turnover of zinc.
