Release of thrombogenic factors by X rays
- 1. Institute of Nuclear Research, Warsaw (Poland)
Description
Neutralization of heparin in vitro by plasma obtained from irradiated rabbit (whole body, 900 R, X rays), as well as a sharp decrease in the anticlotting effect of heparin in vivo after exposure to the same dose of radiation were observed. Evidence is presented that material endowed with antiheparin activity and with ability to precipitate fibrin from its soluble complexes is released from calf thymocyte suspensions in saline when exposed to X rays. A linear dose-effect relationship was found in the range from 0 to 5000 R. (author)
