Pulse shaper with a coaxial capacitor

  • 1. Institute of Applied Physics, Academy of Sciences of the USSR, Gor'kii

Description

It is shown that capacitors can be used effectively as storage elements in high-current electron accelerators with a diode impedance > or approx. =100 Ω. The constraints on the parameters of pulse shapers with coaxial capacitors are found, and it is suggested that active output filters be used to correct the discharge of the storage capacitor across the diode. This method makes it possible to use a higher percentage of the charging voltage and to produce pulses with flat tops. Computational formulas are derived, and experimental results and output pulse traces for a model shaper are discussed
