Nonlinear scattering of upper-hybrid waves by ion-Bernstein fluctuations

Description

This note considers the nonlinear interaction between a large amplitude upper-hybrid wave and non-resonant ion-Bernstein perturbations. It is found that the coupled upper-hybrid and ion Bernstein fluctuations lead to the modulational instability, the growth rate of which is comparable to that involving the lower-hybrid modulations.
