[Atomic processes in high temperature plasmas]: Progress report

Description
It is proposed to continue the theoretical study of dielectronic recombination (DR) and related resonant processes in electron-ion collisions, with special emphasis on the effect of high temperature plasma environment. The DR work on the B-like ions, improvement of the empirical rate formula, and the static field effect on high Rydberg states will continue. A theoretical procedure will be developed to incorporate the effects of both the static ion microfield and time-dependent electron density of the plasma. In addition, the resonant ionization process will be examined to understand the recent experimental observations. This includes both the cascade Auger decay and simultaneous two-electron emission of the resonant states. Improved electron correlation is needed
