pH dependence of recoil 56Mn stabilization in permanganates

  • 1. Dept. of Chemistry, Banaras Hindu Univ., Varanasi (India)

Description

pH - dependence study on recoil stabilization of 56Mn produced by (n,γ) reaction in lanthanum and barium permanganates shows that the retention is apparently independent over a wide range of pH but much more pronounced effect has been observed at high and low pH regions both for solid and solution phase irradiations. The results are of help for a better understanding of the role of chemical state of the solvent along with reactive intermediates and their subsequent participation in recoil chemical stabilization mechanism in permanganates.
