Description
VPM (VLEPP RF power multiplier) represents a new approach of RF pulse compression devices which uses special type of cavities in its RF energy storage system. Principle of operation of this device is the same as used by SLED - storing of the energy during the most duration of the RF pulse from klystron and then, after phase reversion of the pulse by π, radiation of the storage energy during much shorter interval equal to the filling time of the accelerating structure. As a result, output power increased by factor of 3-5. Special features of the VPM are discussed. (R.P.) 7 refs.; 5 figs.; 2 tabs
