Theory of Coulomb distortion of pion spectra by heavy-ion spectator fragments

Description

It has been known for over two years now that the π- spectrum from heavy ion collisions peaks near beam velocity and that the π+ spectrum has a corresponding depression. It has been guessed that these features are Coulomb effects of projectile fragments. A theoretical treatment of this phenomena is given, and results are compared with experimental data
