Extension and operation of the small-angle neutron scattering device KWS II. Final report
Description
In the small-angle neutron scattering device KWS II, all magnetic or magnetizable metal parts have been replaced by parts made of aluminium. This required total dismantling of the collimation system. The diaphragms have been made avoiding Gd as a material constituent, in order to keep the γ background as low as possible. During the work for new adjustment of the glass conductors, former mistakes made during initial mounting have been corrected. An important new feature has been added to the system with the detector electronics for the 3-H gas detector. (DG)

Bei der Neutronenkleinwinkelstreuapparatur KWS II wurden alle magnetischen und magnetisierbaren Metallteile gegen Aluminium ausgetauscht. Dazu war die totale Demontage der Kollimation erforderlich. Die Herstellung der Blenden erfolgte unter Vermeidung der Verwendung von Gd, um den γ-Untergrund gering zu halten. Bei der Neujustage der Glasleiter wurden Einbaufehler beseitigt. Eine wichtige Neuerung beinhaltete die Konstruktion einer Detektorelektronik fuer den 3H-Gasdetektor. (DG)Additional details
