Analysis of hyperstoichiometric UO2 by infrared spectra

Description
The infrared (IR) spectra (200-1000 cm-1) of hyperstoichiometric UOsub(2+x) (x=0.002-0.1153) samples were investigated and the dependence of the ratio of absorbances of the transverse and longitudinal optical branches of the IR-active Tsub(lu) band at 250-500 cm-1 on the O/U ratios was measured. A rapid method was developed for quantitative determination of the O/U ratio within a range of 2.000-2.110. The precision of the method (+-0.004 O/U units) is comparable with those of desctructive and nondestructive methods. The analytical procedure requires 15 min. (author)
