Positron annihilation in small metal voids

  • 1. Northwestern Univ., Evanston, Ill. (USA). Dept. of Physics

Description

The electron density profile around small voids of varying radii in Al is calculated in a fully self-consistent manner using the density-functional formalism of Hohenberg-Kohn-Sham. The results are then used to calculate positron lifetimes and angular correlation between annihilation photons as a function of the size of the void. (author)
