Compton effect in a magnetic field taking account of polarization effects
Description
Perturbation theory has been applied to study the scattering of a flat linearly polarized electromagnetic wave on the electron which is in the H<=H0=m2/e0=4.41x1013 Gauss field (e0-charge, m-electron mass). The cross-section of the process separated according to π- and σ-components of polarization of the incident and scattered wave, is obtained. The dependence of the cross section on spin orientation points to the possibility of electron self-polarization as a result of scattering of linearly polarized photons
