Measuring the free path length of protons and pions in nuclear matter

Description
The results of measuring the neutral and charged pions yield in the (γ, πp) reaction on the Li, C, Al nuclei, depending on the proton energy and the pion azimuthal angle of departure, are presented. The measurement results are analyzed within the frames of the model, including the processes of the pions single and pair quasi-free photoformation. The energy dependences of the free path length of the proton as well as of the neutral and charged pions are obtained from the data on the reaction yield dependence on the atomic number of the nucleus-target
Abstract (Russian)
Приведены результаты измерения выхода нейтральных и заряженных пионов в реакции (γ, πp) на ядрах Li, C и Al в зависимости от энергии протона и азимутального угла вылета пиона. Эксперимент выполнен во второй резонансной области энергии фотонов. Результаты измерения анализируются в рамках модели, включающей процессы одиночного и парного квазисвободного фотообразования пионов. Из данных зависимости выхода реакции от атомного номера ядра-мишени получены энергетические зависимости длины свободного пробега протона и нейтральных и заряженных пионовAdditional details
