Reduction of CO2 through nuclear energy?

A possible climatic change, for instance as a result of an increased proportion of CO2 in the atmosphere, can only be countered with a reduction in CO2 emissions. The feasibility and plausibility of the various methods of reduction are at present the subject of heated debate. Various opinions exist on whether and to what extent nuclear energy could substitute for the amounts of CO2 released in the use of fossile energy carriers. For example, the Green Energy-turning-point-scenario-2010, considers the further use of nuclear energy as irreconcilable with the aim of CO2 reduction and appeals for massive energy savings and a greater extension of renewable energy carriers. In the article two members of the Inquiry Commission of the Deutscher Bundestag on 'Provision for the protection of the earth's atmosphere' present their view on the subject 'Nuclear energy and CO2 reduction'.
