Heat transfer during the reflooding phase of the LOCA-state of the art. Tropical report

Description

A general description of the Loss-of Coolant Accident in Light Water Reactors and of the Emergency Core Cooling Systems and a detailed description of the reflooding phase of this accident are given. The Appendix K (10 CFR 50) version of the regulatory requirements that are relevant to the analysis of the reflooding phase are discussed and analyzed. Analytical models are codes for calculating the reflooding transients used in the U.S. for licensing purposes, as well as developmental computer programs abroad are reviewed and commented upon. A detailed examination of all the experimental evidence available from reflooding experiments is made. Both single-channel and rod-bundle experiments conducted in the U.S. and abroad are comprehensively and critically reviewed. Information on research in progress during the writing of this report is also given
