Description
The new Debrecen cyclotron can be used for fast chemical analysis as well. Elastic ion scattering is one of the non-destructive, quantitative, parallel multi-elemental analytical methods using cyclotron ion beam. The most frequently used geometry, Rutherford backscattering, has some disadvantages. Thus the forward alpha scattering technique is proposed to be introduced. The factors influencing the resolution for the case of the Debrecen cyclotron beam are calculated for different angles and target atoms. The planned experiments and uses of the cyclotron are summarized. (D.Gy.)
