Description

The applications of diesters of H-phosphonic acid have increased over recent years. They are closely related to the esters of phosphoric acid, but have richer chemistry than their phosphate analogues because of the presence of a number of functional groups in the molecule (P"OR, P"H, and P=O). These compounds are referred in literature as dialkyl phosphites. The reactive P"H group makes the chemistry of H-phosphonates interesting as it can be converted to P"OH, P"NR, P"OR, and P"SH. On this note we have started our work on hydrogen phosphine oxides also known as secondary phosphine oxides, in which one alkyl group of the typical phosphine oxides will be replaced by a hydrogen molecule. Also it will be interesting to know the coordination behavior of those compounds towards lanthanides. Our present work is focused on the synthesis of Secondary phosphine oxides with various alkyl chain lengths like C6, C8, C10 and also to evaluate the complexation and coordination behavior of these organophosphorus compound with various lanthanides
