On the effect of Br- on formation of Cl-2 in the pulse radiolysis of the aqueous chloride solutions
Description
The pulse radiolysis experiments on aqueous solutions including Cl- and Br- show that even a small amount of Br- suppressed the formation of CL-2 in a neutral or acidic system alike. The data obtained cannot be fully explained either by the spur diffusion model or by the dry hole reaction alone. Rate constants and extinction coefficients of the transient ion-radicals Cl-2 and Br-2 are presented. (author)
