Framework concept of radiological protection from radioactive waste management in existing exposure situations

Description
Soil contamination by Fukushima Daiichi nuclear accident extends over a wide area. Radioactive waste produced by decontamination should be properly managed. We propose a reference level relating to the laying underground to be 1mSv/y, and we should aim at decreasing the radiation dose setting stepwise reference revels corresponding to the situation of the environment restoration. It is important that the reference level should be set considering technical and financial feasibility with stakeholders as participants. Our framework of radiation protection follows the ICRP recommendation. (J.P.N)
