Description
A pilot investigation on the combination of pre- and selective postoperative irradiation of rectal carcinoma is reported on. Directly before the abdominoperineal rectum amputation, the patients receive a single dose of 5 Gy. After the operation, patients with increased risk of a local relapse (low location, undifferentiated histology, stage B 2 and C) are irradiated with 45 Gy over 4 1/2 weeks additionally. The goal of this procedure is to combine the advantages of pre- and postoperative irradiation, keeping the morbidity as low as possible. Preliminary results are given. (orig.)
Abstract (German)
Es wird eine Pilotstudie vorgestellt, die eine Kombination von prae- und selektiver postoperativer Bestrahlung des Rektumkarzinoms vorsieht. Unmittelbar vor der abdominoperinealen Rektumamputation erhalten die Patienten eine einmalige Dosis von 5 Gy. Postoperativ werden Patienten mit erhoehtem Risiko eines Lokalrezidivs (tiefer Sitz, undifferenzierte Histologie, Stadium B 2 und C) zusaetzlich mit 45 Gy in 4 1/2 Wochen bestrahlt. Ziel dieses Vorgehens ist es, die Vorteile prae- und postoperativer Bestrahlung bei moeglichst geringer Morbiditaet zu kombinieren. Vorlaeufige Ergebnisse werden mitgeteilt. (orig.)Additional details
