A survey of new trends in nuclear thermal-hydraulics

  • 1. Gesellschaft fuer Anlagen- und Reaktorsicherheit (GRS) mbH, Garching (Germany)

Description

This paper presents and overview on the current capabilities of thermal-hydraulic computer codes use for light water reactors (LWRs) safety analysis. It includes a application areas and new development issues descriptions, and tries to point out some of the known code limitations. One of the most valuable source of information on the state-of-the-art in this area was the OECD/CSNI Workshop on Transient Thermal-Hydraulic and Neutronic Codes Requirements, held on November 1996, Annapolis, USA. This survey does not pretend to be complete, but may be helpful to define needs and priorities for further development work in this field. (author). 24 refs
