Use of ionizing radiation for the production of radiovaccines against abdominal typhoid fever

Description
The parental and enteral one-cycle immunization of animals by the application of radiovaccines from bacteria irradiated with doses up to 2.5 Mrad led to the development of vaccine immunity. Irradiated mice served as models of organisms with decreased natural resistance to infection. Parental immunization of these animals by application of corpuscular radiovaccines from bacteria irradiated with 1.5 Mrad caused an immunity of sufficient intensity. With enteral immunization an immunity did not develop, natural resistance, however, was stimulated. Chemical radiovaccines were without effect under these conditions. (author)
