Equipment for monitoring process of burning of water or water vapour in liquid sodium, and of material entrainment due to this burning
Description
The equipment consists of a reactor whose inner space filled with liquid sodium is connected to the source and discharge of liquid sodium and to the source of water of water vapor whose bottom part lies below the sodium level. The space above the sodium level is filled with argon. Inside the reactor may be placed a sample of material whose entrainment with flame during burning is observed. The reactor is located on one straight line with the source of penetrating radiation (gamma, X or neutrons) and a system for visualizing radiation distribution. In case we are concerned with visualizing neutron radiation the system will contain a conversion layer, e.g., gadolinium, a brightness amplifier with input and output screens, a television camera, a display and possibly also a photographic or cine camera.
