Experimental and theoretical studies of critical currents in multisectional linacs

Description
The problems of beam transverse instability suppression in multisectional electron linacs are considered. The method of creation of radial cuts in accelerating structure slits is developed. Dependence of beam critical current on the LU-2000 and the LUEh-300 output on cut sections number is given. The results of the new sections studies are presented. Energy growth constituted 56 MeV with 16 Mw power level. Old sections substitution for new ones will allow to increase beam critical current up to 400 mA with 1 mcs current pulse duration
