Gd-DTPA enhancement in eary cerebral infarction
Creators
Description
This paper studies the patterns of MR contrast enhancement developing within the first 2 weeks of a cortical cerebral infarction. Gd-DTPA was administered prospectively to 50 consecutive patients who presented for MR imaging within 2 weeks of a cerebral infarction. Twenty-two (44%) were imaged within 3 days of the clinical ictus. Abnormalities detected with Gd-DTPA were observed in 46/50 cases (92%). Classic gyriform enhancement was a late finding, observed in all 17 patients imaged at 7--14 days. Prior to this period, three additional phases of contrast abnormalities were observed
