Dependence of energy gap on temperature and composition in Mn/sub x/Cd/sub 1-x/S
Description
The Mn/sub x/Cd/sub 1-x/S single crystals in the composition range x = 0.03 to 0.35 were grown by chemical transport technique. Measurements on the energy gap (E/sub g/) variation with temperature and composition have been done by photoconductivity and optical absorption measurements. E/sub g/ varies anomalously with x. It shows a minimum at x approximately 0.03 and increases linearly with x for x > 0.15. The temperature coefficient increases linearly with x. A break in the temperature dependene is observed in the samples with x = 0.20 and 0.30
