Long-term changes in the solar diurnal variation

  • 1. Imperial Coll. of Science and Technology, London (UK). Dept. of Physics

Description

Amongst the characteristics of the solar diurnal anisotropy which can change during the course of one or more solar cycles one can consider the free-space amplitude, the time of maximum (direction of maximum intensity), the rigidity dependence of the amplitude and/or phase and the upper limiting rigidity. Assuming that the rigidity dependence does not change during the solar cycle, it has been found that the freespace amplitude tends to stay approximately constant whilst the upper limiting rigidity Rsub(max) varies. Rsub(max) is relatively high when solar activity is high and is low near sun-spot minimum. (orig./WBU)

Abstract (German)

(orig./WBU)
