Neutral and charged D* meson production in #pi #-p interactions at 360 Gev/c
Description
The inclusive cross sections for forward D* meson production at 360 GeV/c in π-p interactions are determined: (π-p → D*± + X; xF > 0)= (5.0+2.3)-(5.0-1.8) μb, (π-p → D*0 + X; xF > 0) = (7.3 ± 2.9) μb. The D* mesons are produced centrally, without any significant non-central component. D* production dominates the total charm D meson production and, in particular, saturates D0 production
