Subsurface migration of radionuclides at the Radioactive Waste Management Complex: 1976--1977

Description

Samples of subsurface material from the Radioactive Waste Management Complex at the Idaho National Engineering Laboratory were collected and radiochemically analyzed. The purpose of the study was to determine the extent of radionuclide migration from buried waste. The material came from eight core drilled wells and from four sample trenches excavated beneath buried waste. One well provided deeper samples from directly under buried waste. It is concluded from this study that radionuclide migration will not be a future hazard to the Snake River Plain aquifer under present climatic conditions
