The infrared angular diameter of eta Carinae
Description
New IR observations of the cool shell around eta Car between 3.7 and 12.2 μm are presented. Assuming circular symmetry and Gaussian intensity distribution of the source half-flux diameters are derived which increase smoothly with wave-length from 2.7 arcsec at 3.7 μm, 4.8 arcsec at 8.1 μm, 5.4 arcsec at 9.6 μm to 6.5 arcsec at 12.2 μm.
