Device for removing impurities from sodium
Description
Purpose: To efficiently remove impurities such as radioactive corrosion products and fission products in primary coolants in FBR type reactors using sodium as coolants. Constitution: An impurity removing device has an oxygen supplying device, by which oxygen is supplied into coolants to increase the oxygen density therein. Then, the coolants are sent by way of a pump and a vlave to a particle forming device. In the particle forming device, oxygen is bonded with impurities, for example, Mn to form particles in chemical form of MnO. The particulated impurities are passed through a high gradient magnetic filter. The filter has fine wires inserted therein and applied with external magnetic force. With such a structure, impurities in the coolants can efficiently be eliminated. (Horiuchi, T.)
