The dynamics of molecule surface energy transfer and sticking

  • 1. IBM Almaden Research Center, San Jose, CA (USA)

Description

Recent work on the dynamics of gas surface collisions as studied with molecular beam and laser spectroscopic techniques is reviewed. With the advent of UHV and surface analysis techniques it is now possible to study collision dynamics with well characterized and reproducible solid surfaces. The questions addressed and the approach taken is similar in principle to many experiments in atomic and molecular collision processes which are the heart of this conference. 30 refs.; 6 figs
