The radiolysis of chlorobenzene

Description

The distribution and the yields of the products formed from gamma-irradiated chlorobenzene are measured. The influence of the scavengers, I2, CCl4, CHCl3, n-butanol and Mo(CO)6 is investigated. The polymer distribution as measured by gelfiltration changes as a result of the various scavengers. Some features of the reactions involved are discussed, but as the material balance is incomplete, no reaction scheme is given. GCMS analysis shows that a considerable number of previously undetected compounds are formed. (author)
