Description
he application of the Magnox gas-cooled reactor to the recovery of heavy oil reserves is described. This is the only proven reactor capable of achieving the range of steam conditions required for oil field injection applications. The use of nuclear energy for the generation of injection steam would both reduce the effective cost of the steam and increase the volume of oil produced for the market. (U.K.)
