Compton scattering tomography. Clinical results

Description

Although Compton Tomography is not yet developed for routine use, it appears to be a simple and unexpensive tomographic technique. Using it, some authors have shown pulmonary diseases, others cerebral diseases (hyper or hypodense). Among the difficulties of this technique are the problem of processing the image with an appropriate filter, and the problem of the dynamic of the visualisation which is necessary to present the information existing on the image matrix

Abstract (French)

Bien qu'encore loin d'etre utilisable en routine clinique, la tomographie par effet Compton se revele etre une technique simple et peu couteuse a mettre en oeuvre. Certains auteurs ont mis en evidence des anomalies pulmonaires, d'autres des lesions cerebrales (hyper ou hypodenses). Parmi les difficultes soulevees par cette technique figurent le probleme du traitement de l'image par un filtrage approprie, et le probleme de la dynamique de la visualisation pour mettre en evidence les informations presentes dans la matrice image
