The calibration of one highest energy of the neutron calorimeter

  • 1. Academia Sinica, Beijing (China). Inst. of High Energy Physics

Description

The neutron calorimeter is very important detector for studying the charm baryon decay because nobody found the decay of neutron directly from charm Baryon. The authors predicted the Br(ΛC+→n anything)∼20%. The Netron Calorimeter of E781 consisted of 50 steel plates, 50 plastic scintillation counters and 16 plates of proportional wire chambers, thus making a 4m long and total of 14.4 absorption lengths. the energy resolution is about 1.3/√E before calibration. The energy resolution achieved 0.7/√E after calibration and ensured a linear behavior over their dynamic range from 0 to 650 GeV/c
