Description

So far, the focus has been on reducing CO2 emissions when it comes to curbing the man-made global temperature rise. A global study by McKinsey & Company now shows that the consequences of climate change can be influenced much more strongly in the short term by reducing methane emissions - at comparatively low cost. Also in Germany.

Abstract (German)

Bisher steht die Senkung von CO2-Emissionen im Fokus, wenn es darum geht, den vom Menschen verursachten, globalen Temperaturanstieg einzudämmen. Eine globale Studie von McKinsey & Company zeigt jetzt, dass mit einer Senkung der Methanemissionen die Folgen des Klimawandels kurzfristig viel stärker beeinflusst werden können - zu vergleichsweise niedrigen Kosten. Auch in Deutschland.
