Functional determinants and effective action for conformal scalar and spinor fields in an external gravitational field

Description
A method of calculating the determinants of certain differential operators that arise in quantum field theory is developed. It is shown that the ratios of two determinants for conformally related metrics in the case of conformal coupling with matter fields can be calculated exactly
