Proceedings of the 2006 SPE Gas Technology Symposium : Mature Fields in New Frontiers

The 2006 Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) Gas Technology Symposium provided an opportunity for petroleum producers, service providers and industry professionals to meet and share the most current technologies that enhance the recovery of natural gas. Ideas regarding solutions to common problems were evaluated along with methods to improve overall development and production. The conference was held in Calgary, Alberta and as such, was organized locally by the Canadian Section of the Society of Petroleum Engineers. The 2006 theme addresses issues ranging from mature fields to new frontiers. The best methods for reserves estimation and stimulation of tight gas wells were discussed along with recent advances in technology. The economic, technical and environmental issues that pose a challenge to natural gas producers were discussed along with new and emerging technologies in resource development. The sessions of the conference were entitled: gas condensate reservoirs; unconventional gas; methods for reserves estimation; drilling completions; reservoir engineering; tight gas; production; hydrates; stimulating tight gas wells; fracturing; and, case studies.
