  • 1. Environmental Survey Laboratory, Kudankulam Nuclear Power Project, Tamil Nadu (India)
  • 2. Health Physics Division, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Trombay, Mumbai 400085 (India)

Description

This report presents the results of the analysis of wind speed data using 60 m high meteorological tower based instruments for the years 2011-2015 at MM Lab. Kudankulam from the point of view of assessing the wind energy potential of the site. The monthly average hourly and daily totals of wind energy evaluated for the years 2011 to 2015 varied from 5.65E+5(J/m2) to 1.62E+6(J/m2) with the average 9.11E+5 (J/m2), corresponding wind power density is 253.0 (W/m2). Low and a medium power wind mill which can be operated at the site for the 60 m height with an average availability factor of about 96.5% and 88.2% respectively. (author)
