Multihadron rapidity distributions, fractals and entropy

  • 1. Arizona Univ., Tucson, AZ (United States). Dept. of Physics

Description

This paper reviews the possible role of fractals in the description of hadronic multiplicity distributions. The authors note that the apparent power law dependence of certain moments as the size of rapidity bins decreases is not necessarily evidence for intermittency but is typical of fractal correlations and perhaps of more ordinary mechanisms. Finally the behavior of information entropy and its possible connection with a fractal dimension determining the energy dependence of the multiplicity are discussed
