Successful nuclear project management through cooperation between manufacturers and electric utilities

  • 1. ABB Atom AB, Vaesteraes, (Sweden)

Description

In Finland and Sweden 16 nuclear power units are in operation. Il of these are BWRs delivered by ABB Atom. From the first order in 1966 there has been a unique cooperation between the manufacturers and the utilities. This applies to the reactor and fuel design, construction and maintenance planning. The results of the cooperation can be seen in short construction periods (less than 5 years), high availabilities and low radiation doses. All these factors sum up to an extremely good economy for all the Nordic BWR plants
