Concepts are presented for an appropriate selection or combination of diagnostic imaging methods, selectively compiled for the various body regions. The concepts refer to the diagnostic imaging of the chest, abdomen, urogenital tract, skeletal system, vascular system, central nervous system, endocrine system, soft tissue, ENT area, or of traumata. The methods discussed cover conventional X-ray radiography, including tomography and older methods, scintiscanning, CT, ultrasonography and, if appropriate, endoscopic methods that are applied with or without imaging controls, as e.g. bronchoscopy. NMR imaging of course also is discussed for suitable cases. In addition to the concepts explained, the chapters contain some general information as to the value of the various methods, and optically set off keynotes give brief information of clinical value.
