Present status of RILAC

Description
This year marks 43 years since the RIKEN Heavy Ion Linac (RILAC) began supplying ion beams; RILAC has accelerated a variety of ion species at different energies according to experimental requirements. Following a shutdown from June 2017, RILAC was upgraded with a new Superconducting ECR Ion Source (SCECRIS) and Superconducting Linac Booster (SRILAC) to further continue the Superheavy Element (SHE) synthesis program beyond nihonium. Beam commissioning was carried out in January 2020 and the 40Ar beam was successfully accelerated to 6.2 MeV/u for the first time. Beam acceleration of the SHE experiment using SCECRIS and SRILAC was then started in June 2020. In this year, the RF control system of the RILAC injector and the cooling water temperature control mechanism were upgraded to enable more stable accelerator operation and beam supply. 理研仁科加速器科学研究センターの理研重イオンリニアック(RILAC)は、1981年に単独運転が開始され、40年以上運転を続けている。2016年よりアップグレードが行われ、実験設備のほかに、超伝導ECRイオン源と超伝導線型加速器SRILACの建設が実施された。2020年1月28日のファーストビーム以降、ビームコミッショニングを実施、6月からはマシンタイムを開始した。2022年8月には入射系RFにデジタルローレベル回路の導入及び制御盤の更新を行った。2022年9月にはRFQ系冷却水温度調整機構を、2023年3月にはRILACドリフトチューブ電磁石冷却系の温度調整機構を整備し,安定した温度の冷却水を供給出来るようになった。また2023年3月にはRILAC LEBT,HEBTの一部で30年近く使用していた古い電磁石電源を更新した。これにより加速器を以前よりも安定して運用・保守することが出来るようになり、以降安定してビーム供給を続けている。本発表ではこの加速器の現状報告として、この10年間の運転状況、及びこの1年間における保守・改良作業などについて報告する。(著者)Additional details
